Photos of my flowers

Every now and again, I need some inspiration through the long, North Dakota winter months, and adding stuff to this page helps me remember what I planted the year before and what looks like it worked and what looks like it didn't! :)

I am itching for 2013 planting, but the weather is NOT cooperating! Seventeen inches of snow on April 14-15. Last year at this time, trees were blossoming.

My first flower photo of 2013:
A picture of a picture. Yes, Spring is slow in coming to the North country!

My first rose blossom of 2012!

Peonies popping all over!

This is last year's bloom. This tulip did not bloom this year. About the time it was starting, we had a cold snap. The bud did not survive.

My variegated fountain grass, that likes a sunny location, is in the sunniest, hottest location in my yard; right in front of the front porch. So far, it's looking good.

My fern peonies never got past the bud stage. A small hail and wind storm knocked the buds right off. I think this would have been a nice flower.

My regular peonies were TOTALLY ROCKING!

And  this spirea grew about two feet this spring! I'm thinking I need a bunch of these in the yard. They are so cool looking!

The photos below were posted some time in February, 2011, when I was longing for better weather...

Okay, this technically is not a flower, but she's my little flower! This photo was taken when she was about four. She's wearing my boots and her brother's Spongebob hat. She's doubled her age and is just as precious!

My daughter has actually drawn many, many flowers, and given them to me in cards and other pictures. But this is one of her sidewalk drawings. Very artistic, don't you think?

With the tail end of the camper in the shot, and a weed in the foreground, it isn't QUITE alpine daisy-esque, but that's what I thought of when I saw the picture.

Get a load of these petunias! (With a few weeds thrown in for imperfect gardening measure!). Those petunias are largely volunteer. (I wish I could get a few more volunteer weeders for my flower beds, but I guess I'm going to have to pay the "help" this summer; my 8 and 13 year-olds!)

My tulips. I'm SO looking forward to their arrival again this spring!

Cosmos at sunset. Artsy, eh?

Droopy drawers! I LOVE purple coneflower! And after two years, they are finally starting to take off! I can hardly wait until this summer to see what they do.

Lilies and moonlight.

Fern Peony, season #1. They looked pretty bad toward the end of the summer. We'll see what happens this year!
