I may have mentioned this before, but my daughter -- she's nine -- went through a phase where all she wanted to do was watch HGTV. She loved looking at all the houses and how they were decorated and trying to guess which house the buyers would ultimately choose.
Then she kind of lost interest. But last night, we snuggled on the couch and watched "House Hunters" on HGTV. Right before the 9 p.m. episode started, I went into the kitchen to get my daughter a snack so I missed the beginning, but my daughter called out, "Mom, what does 'trauma' mean?"
So I explained. Then I asked her, "Why?" I suddenly heard, "Fargo" emanating from the television. I ran back into the living room and said, "Fargo? North Dakota?"
My daughter nodded, like it was no big deal.
Well, of course it was! North Dakota houses featured on HGTV? And featuring super-cool houses at that? I was glued to the television!
And today, the headline of the Fargo Forum read, Fargo home makes HGTV.
I think North Dakota has arrived!! Not only are we getting national attention for all the jobs we have available in the oil patch, we are showing people that we have pretty classy homes full of history and beauty too!
What an awesome place to live! And by the way, happy 122nd birthday, North Dakota.
